Field trip tour involves learning about some of our animal ambassadors, including lizards, snakes, and turtles. The entire party (students, teachers, chaperones, parents, siblings) is split into multiple groups, and each group tours a different room. Educators lead the guests and share their knowledge of the animals, including facts about their species and their rescue stories. These tours are great for all ages. Field trips scheduled for only the tour are 90 minutes long

I am hoping to add on an extra 30 minutes of their lab activity: interactive Life Sciences labs designed to teach topics in biology and environmental science. For example, they have a lab that demonstrates how the semi-permeable skin of an amphibian works and why their skin makes them such crucial indicator species in many habitats.

Cost:

Estimated ~$15 for students, $13 for adults (this may be adjusted somewhat to between $10-15) depending on how many folks are interested

Transportation: everyone meets at location at designated time. If anyone needs a ride or would like to carpool, let me know and we can figure something out.

New Natural Land, Air, Water program - experience nature, contribute to community science, and connect to the great outdoors using observation-based and hands-on investigation learning (investigating river macroinvertebrates, dissect owl pellets, feathers under microscopes)

*We did this last year and the kids ended up having a lot of fun looking under the microscope (they set up a bunch for us on the lawn nearby!) for clues that told us about the health of the San Diego River.

Last year's production was absolutely fantastic and student friendly, 4th graders had a great time. Open to k-12, but it is a 3 hour production (including intermission). All operas are performed in Italian, though materials are provided (spoken & written) to help everyone understand what's going on & additional teaching materials are available (attached PDF).

Family Fringe will take place over the course of two weekends. May 17-18 and May 24-25. Looks fun! Family tap dance and Taylor Swift sing-a-long just to name a couple of the activities. AND it's free which is always good :)

We have helped secure discounted tickets for MEA students and their families to visit Legoland on Friday, September 12, 2025. Student/child tickets are $19 each and adult tickets are $39. The first (up to 10) adult tickets purchased will also include free parking. Otherwise, parking is not included. This is not a school sponsored field trip- MEA will not be providing transportation or supervision of students, but we hope the MEA community will take advantage of the discounted price and enjoy some time and fun together! All students must be supervised by a parent or another adult. The last day to purchase tickets at the discounted rate is Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025. To purchase tickets, go to SDUSD School Cash.
