Happiness

At the beginning of the semester, I expressed how I genuinely just wanted to make stuff that made me happy in any way. Although I don't think any of the pieces I made in PCP are necessarily happy, I did find a lot of joy in creating them. Particularly, the final project was made with a lot of laughter and delight from me and my team. We had all just jumbled each of our dreams to create this weird sort of fever dream scene that highlights the goofiness of dreaming. That goofiness is what brought me so much joy near the end of the semester as we worked on our script and blocking.

Aspirations & Goals

I don't think I accomplished my goal this semester to figure out what I want to do in life, and I think that's okay. However, one project that helped me express the uncertainty of what I am doing here in university was during the design module with my altarpiece. The piece I created was very personal to me, and one of the key components of the piece was the phrase, "I'm not an artist." Despite the phrase, this piece helped me realize that I do have artistic qualities, and if I decide to go into a creative field, I can succeed. I'm still unsure what my life goals are, but that piece represented that uncertainty, which is the biggest part of my journey right now.

Real World Connections

I believe real-world connections are vital to theater, although art can be anything, making art that relates to your world is beautiful. During the devising section, my group created something that reflected my own life. In the piece my team made, there was an angry couple who got into an argument but later took time to calm down and come back together. The prompt started with my memory of hope of sitting next to my partner watching nature and birds, which with the other's impact, created the scene we got. Although this real-world connection isn't a big statement on communities or life, it is a small window into everyday issues I know many people face.
