This tragic event lasted for 12 years. 1933 to 1945. The Holocaust is important because it was a big part of world history. It taught us about the tragic events that happened during World War 2. It talks about how many people suffered, starved, and died. Millions and millions of people died from Adolf Hitler

From 1945 to 1952 over 250,000 Jewish people lived in camps and urban centers in Germany, Austria, and Italy. They were run by Allied authorities, the United Nations Relief, and Rehabilitation Administration. The Central Tracing Bureau helped people look for their lost family members. This included lists of survivors and their locations in the newspapers and announcements on the radio. Their were many weddings and births at the DP camps. Schools were started with teachers from Israel and the United States. Jewish volunteer agencies would supply them with the necessary supplies to practice their religions. Not only that, they also supplied people with the necessary tools to celebrate religious holidays in the camps. Despite the depressing condition of the camps, people formed many active and social clubs were you could participate in different activities including theater, music, journalism, and sports.

In World War II, Simon Wiesenthal got through years of labor and concentration camps but during that, 89 of his family and wife's family were killed during the Holocaust. After finding the war, Simon decided to gather information against the Nazi's which will soon go to the U.S. authorities to prosecute war criminals. When the Cold War started the authorities weren't interested of pursuing them but Simon was persisted on. One of the people who was a major part of starting the Holocaust, Adolf Eichmann was in Argentina and Simon found him and gave information that he had gotten previously and gave it to the Israeli authorities. Over the years he's tracked over 16 SS men who have been responsible for the cruelty in Lvav. Simon started a organization, the Jewish Documentation Center of Vienna, Austria, have caught over one thousand nazis and also focus on exposing Holocaust deniers and supporters of Nazi ideas.

When all the Jews were freed they needed a place to go. Israel was in the making of becoming a country, but if they were to survive as a country they would need a bigger population and some help. And Zionism also help the jew's cause. Zionism, founded by Theodor Herzl and is an organization that believes that the Jews are good people and that and people of any race should be treated equally of anyone else. After Theodor witnessed a brutal European anti-Semitism first hand he was then convinced that Jews could never survive in an outside country on their own. He then organized meetings, and migrated thousands of Jews to what is now Israel/Palestine.

The pursuit of Justice was a time where the poeple of all nations tried to get revenge on the SS guards that guarded the concentration camps and the Nazi leaders that helped Adolf Hitler in his reign. In the beginning, Allied soldiers were so horrified by what they saw in these camps that they let the prisoners get revenge on the guards, which they did. After the war was over, the Allies tracked down variouus Nazi leaders and tried them in what became known as the Nuremburg Trials. These were a series of trials that found Nazi leaders guilty of treason and first degree murder and had them hanged or otherwise killed.

The most intense slaughtering of Jews occurred in September 1941, with a count of 33,000 Jews killed in 2 days. Between 1933 and 1945 over 11 million people were murdered during the Holocaust and 6 million of these people were Jewish. Hitler ended up killing 21% of the Poland population. The camps where the Jews were killed had gas chambers that contained about sixty Jews, they had glass areas where the nazi could watch them die and make sure no one could escape. Sometimes on freezing days they would toss the people out in the snow naked to freeze to death, if that didn't work they would put the dogs on them to finish them off.
