Tank lighting allows us to see our aquarium's inhabitants ,fish, plants and decorations. Tank lighting is needed for our fish heath, plants and other organisms. The amount of light needed for a fish tank depends on the amount of things you have in tank. Live plants need at least 12 hours, newly planted aquariums start with 6 to 8 hours per day but fish need time to sleep so constant light isn't good for them and can cause stress so 10 to 12 hours a day.

Based on what we learned, we are adding a heater to the tank because all of our fish require one. Guppies are temperate fish that are happiest in water between 64–73°F (18–23°C), which is room temperature for a temperate fish tank. Betta fish need a heater to maintain water temperatures between 75–80°F. Molly fish need a heater to maintain stable water temperatures between 70–82°F (21–28°C).The ideal temperature range for most cory catfish is 74–80° F. We also will add a tank light for the fishes health, plants, and other organisms.
