UBI may be a good idea, but it could be a dangerous way to make a number of government agencies disappear. According to political scientist Luiz Carlos Bresser, “A strong state for a strong democracy”. In this way, a strong state is a state which has good government agencies that offer support beyond the financial, e.g. social, psychological and educational. So, UBI must be thought of together with these government agencies so that poor people (the target audience of UBI) are included in society.

In the current Brazilian context, it’s necessary to prepare the new generation for the application of Universal Basic Income. Brazil is a country with many social and economic inequalities, in addition to being known worldwide for its political scandals involving money embezzlement, which reflects, in addition to character issues, financial mismanagement. In order to avoid mismanagement of Minimum Basic Income, the new generation can be prepared in schools, for example, with activities that develop adequate financial management with a focus on basic needs, well-being and health. Therefore, very soon people will be able to choose to work with what they really want, with what they want to contribute to society, and not just focusing on personal income.

The idea itself sounds good, but the real application of UBI as the only social policy offered by the government, considering Brazil's reality where there is a deep social and economic inequalities, wouldn't be fair. The fact that, for example, a person makes 20.000 and another makes 2.000, after gaining the 1.000 dollars - mentioned in the video - they would still have a 18.000 dollar gap in their accounts, because the amount would be the same for poor and rich people. That way, society would stay with the same level of inequality and the program wouldn’t really improve quality of life with better opportunities, neither solve the huge imbalance in Brazil.

If the intention is to contribute to people having more work opportunities and better wellbeing, the state should increase funding to schools and public health-care, ensuring the basic needs for all. In this sense, ensuring good health and good basic education to all children that have difficulties going to school they will get more knowledge and grow up having more capacity to be employed and take the opportunities. Through self improvement, the poor people can have more chances to do a family life-changing and create goals and dreams to be realized.

They expect the people who earn that money to spend with whatever they want, giving this money back into economy, but I believe this method will increase consumerism, the people needs a solid base to be able to prosper, just spend money can improve the economy, but don’t increase the gap between social classes, we should, instead, focus on our existing government policies, when we propose an alternative to a better life style we have to prioritize some things like health, security, education, etc. Analyzing this perspective, in my opinion, it's more effective to keep this money invested in wellf-care programs.

The UBI is a good way to improve the lives of people who seek other ways of life and this subject just need much research and evaluation.

This is still a very complex subject, because people and economies are very different around the world. e.g. In some countries (like Suiça) the wealth gap is small, while other countries (like Brasil) the wealth gap is immense.

UBI needs research, maybe understanding how countries with smaller social differences work with incentives for few resource populations would be a good way to go.

I do not agree with part of the UBI, for example, everyone is entitled to the benefit, those who have large fortunes do not need the benefit. So in part it wouldn't be fair in my point of view, the best proposal would be to readjust the current benefits, which help families who need it but don't make them dependent on it.

The social reality is so different in many countries. In Brazil, there is a big gap between those who earn little and those who earn a lot. The minimum wage, guaranteed in the Federal Constitution (1988), does not cover all brazilians. Besides, public health (SUS) is not totally efficient, but covers a large part of the population. There are many structures that should be changed like taxing large fortunes and not essential products, no tax on basic food products, increasing public education. A basic income for all, like UBI, doesn´t solve all problems. Its necessary to offer quality education, housing, jobs, minimum quality of life and promote social control by the citizens.

I DO NOT AGREE WITH UBI

BECAUSE IN BRAZIL PEOPLE ARE LAZY, THEY DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PROGRAMS AND COURSES OFFERED, FEW PEOPLE VALUE THE OPPORTUNITIES TO BE BETTER. I THINK IT'S DIFFICULT, BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE, IT WOULD BE A BIG WORK..
