Paula Johnson--Lincoln Teaching Reading and Writing, my role in the classroom could be used as a means to give all students a voice as well as help students hear from many perspectives. Creating a culture of dignity and respect in my classroom and being willing to listen and learn myself is key, not to mention to be willing to acknowledge that I am not "all knowing."

I can empower students by listening to them and validating their experiences. I can help empower colleagues by encouraging them when they do acts of antiracism and by offering constructive feedback when I hear not-so-great things happen. Actually doing that is the terrifying part. I could easily offer resources and offer insights that I have gathered from the books I read and the documentaries I watch.
