Dear Park Bogum,
How are you in Korea? I remember, during one of your interviews, you wanted to know more about Singapore before 1819. Well, today I learnt about Singapore before 1819!

First, I realised that the defence of Singapore is very weak as we were protected by the Majapahit Kingdom. Even though we were weak, Singapore used weapons like arrowheads instead of guns to defend the country.

Secondly, many people from overseas came to Singapore to work like the Chinese coolies from China. They were employed including construction, agriculture, shipping, mining and rickshaw pulling.

Last thing that I learnt was that ships and boats travelled the straits between Singapore and Johor to sell their goods but was blocked by a mass of smaller islands.

That was all I learnt from History class today, I hope you gained something from this!

Love,
Isabel
