I always thought school is boring and merely filled with work — classwork, homework, you name it. But they proved me wrong. Thank you Sam, Janet, Alessandra for giving me the best memory. Walking across the campus at 6 PM in pitch dark isn’t too scary when we are together.

I never imagined myself to be a "book-person" before COVID. Because we were all at home and had nothing to do, I began to discover what I am interested in besides academic work -- and books were the solution to boredom. Even though I mainly read these books to finish my independent reading assignments, books are so much fun! I was able to see from different perspectives and learn so much asides from my boring daily routine amid a pandemic. To me, books are time capsules that capture what the author felt or witnessed at the moment; and we are to submerge ourselves into the moment and enjoy the world that the author brings us into.

"Wing is a hardworking person who puts a lot into what she does. If you are in a group project with her, you won't have to worry about carrying all the weight, but make sure that you don't let her carry all of the weight now either. Wing has been there to answer my questions when I am confused and has been there to let me know about opportunities I might have not been aware of or otherwise pursued. Even though I have been saying "I hate [insert any AP classes]," I love all of them. This year has been undoubtedly stressful, but it is the most memorable of all. I got to meet new people (& physically see them), and I learned so much from all of my classes. Some assignments are definitely tedious and some teachers are definitely hard to deal with, but I enjoy everything that we do in class.

I do not wish this year to end but I think we all need a break. We all have worked so hard these years, we deserve an actual break now.

But can we really? The never-ending cycle of anxiety and pressure followed me for one whole year. Junior year is a demon; five AP classes are not worth it. Sometimes I think about how I stay up till 6 AM to finish my essay or my homework, and it haunts me.

But ultimately, we did it.

YEP Art Therapy

I remember we were so excited for Ms. Murphy when she was getting a new room and was able to leave her little office. It all began as she invited us to decorate her new room. She brought canvas, paints, brushes—everything that we potentially need to decorate her room. It was never intended to be art therapy, but the healing we found within painting for her was immense that we coined it "art therapy."

I first met Ms. Murphy online through Zoom when she was helping me with my Chabot application. When I met her for the first time in person this school year, I am shocked by how she still remembered me and how I looked without a mask. When we were in Bridge to College trying to not fall asleep in the boring Zoom lectures, she would occasionally stare at me and laughed because I always look "miserable."

I miss Ms. Murphy but I am sure that Oklahoma will be a new adventure for her (and her cat and dog).

"Watching Wing so confidentially leap through the pathway of a basketball inflable, only to toss the basketball completely over the inflatable will forever be my favorite middle school memory. Unapologetic for her own strength, she waited patiently for someone to fetch the ball for her. Throughout the years I have watched Wing grow with this self-assertive mindset. I never thought that I worked hard. I procrastinated every night and suspend my work till the next day until my grades go on that slippery road.

Taking five AP's and stressing was definitely not worth it.
But taking five AP's and enjoying the process of learning cannot be evaluated in terms of stress.

Bunsen burner 🔥

There is a twist-able part at the bottom of the Bunsen burner where you can control how much oxygen goes into the flame (more oxygen = bluer flame = stronger flame). I wasn't sad that we had to be in online for the most part besides Chem. Having Chem H online is soooooo bad. I wasn't able to see anything that is cool or had the chance to poison myself/others.

My first time of using a Bunsen burner was all about screaming. It was simply heating a soda can up and submerge it into an ice bath, but the process of having an open flame stresses me out. I eventually got it, but I also contributed a very funny vlog to our lab collection.

My second time of using Bunsen burner was all about Ms. Brown screaming at me. I took up all of the courage that I had and twisted the bottom part of the Bunsen burner to make a stronger flame, but instead, the flame turned more orange (weaker). I did not notice that it was wrong until Ms. Brown screamed at me across the room (as she always does). The ending was good, we made fudge. It was yummy! but too much pam

I disappeared for one day, a Wednesday when I had an AP Chem test, an APUSH essay, an AP Physics test, a CSF meeting, and an additionally meeting after school.

I got up on Wednesday morning and took a shower, getting ready to go to school. But when I stepped into my room, I just collapsed and sat on the floor and didn't have the strength to get up. I called my mom and asked her to call the school saying that I am going to be absent because of "Family Emergency."

I cried myself to bed, recovering from consecutively sleeping at 6 AM and stressing over homework and tests on a daily basis.

That day at 5 PM when I finally feel ready enough to pick up books and pens again, I texted Ms. Brown asking if I can take the test on Thursday after school. She said yes plainly without asking what happened.

Thursday after school, I first went to Ms. Perkins where she told me everything that I missed and talked to me very in-depth in a very concerning tone. She told me that Ms. Brown thought that she broke me, that's why I didn't show up to school. Perkins even offered to walk me to Ms. Brown. I ended up scoring a B, the lowest grade I ever received on a Chem test, but I am still very proud of myself. At the very minimum, I took the test, and I pushed through.
