Remixing Classical Stories: A Project.

This is a project we started last year with some student-helpers at university. We based our audivisual productions on two principles: remixing, mashup and some theory on fanfics. We chose to remix classical stories for children and to explore the lives of very well-known characters like Cinderella, Pinocchio, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. Below you will find a video that we made and we musicalised using a synthesiser. This particular story is really fun and remixes the lives of Pinoccio and Little Red Riding Hood. It was originally intended for students to use as a source of dictation in English, but you can read it along with the different readers and enjoy the music while you play with words! Below you will also find access to a PDF file with the story both in English and in Spanish:

PINOCCHIO AND LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD (pdf)

The second PDF file you can download contains information on remixing, mashup and fanfics as well as some notions on the idea of copyright in English, and it is a an excerpt from an article we wrote in relation to this particular project:

REMIXING, FANFIC, MASHUP AND COPYRIGHT (pdf)

The video attached to this post was made on iMovie.
