         <description><![CDATA[<div>(1) On a daily basis, I allow children to self-select activities in learning centers.<br>(2) I take a backseat ("get out of the way") when I see learners taking charge, and support them in their efforts, whether it is planned or a "teachable moment."<br>(3) Long term, I am planning units of study based on what students' interests are, based on surveys, comments, etc.<br>(4) My future goals include more decision-making by the students themselves in how to approach units of study vs. just the topics.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think it is so important to give the students as many options as possible in areas that you are able to.  Allowing breaks as needed and trusting students to use those breaks wisely, giving them options for presenting material, options for manipulatives, or groups to work with or even options for which book we might be reading in reading groups.  Sometimes we are not able to give choices, so I think its important to when we can. </div>]]></description>
