Two things that made the authors argument strong are the use of Appeal to reason and Appeal to normality. The appeal to reason is "One in five teenagers in America cant hear rustles or whispers" This quote brings in reason behind their motive. Next the appeal to normality is he says "John C. Koss invented a set of headphones" then says "middle class men" Showing how everyone uses the headphones and a every day guy created them.
Two things that made the essay weak was the lack of more recent information. They say "The Walkman appeared in 1979" They then continue to talk about the Walkman and don't necessarily bring up much current information. The lack of appeal to authority is also weak for this essay. He says "Keir Keightly, a professor of media" but they never brought in his insights on headphones. If they did have a doctor truly say against headphones then it would be more persuasive.

Strong: The author warns the audience about possible dangers due to the ear buds. This gives fear to the audience, because they do not want to experience these things. Also the author sounds very experienced on the topic and seems pretty wise in what he is talking about.
Weak: The authors lack of the use of appeal to authority. This makes the argument weak, because he does not make the connection to the people. Also, the lack of recent information makes it very weak because it seems that the information is less accurate.
