Step 1: Ideation

Articulate the need or gap

MAOT Advocacy SIG identified that there was a desire for collective state-level advocacy
There were timely state policy issues we were looking to address as a SIG
Motivated to increase visibility of OT profession within the Massachusetts State House

Identify key stakeholders
Identify champions (i.e. social media marketing)
Identify resources
Brainstorm structure and content
- As a team of three on the Advocacy SIG, in conjunction with MAOT's PR representative, we collaborated to determine key priorities and goals for Hill Week and then asynchronously to develop content for each day

Step 2: Create Stakeholder Buy-In

Describe anticipated benefits of MAOT's First ever State-Level Virtual Hill Week including:
- Increased state association membership
- Increased advocacy for state policy
- Increased visibility for OT within the state
- Increased interest of OT students to engage in advocacy efforts and learn more about their state association

Step 3: Market Advocacy Events

First ever MAOT Virtual Hill Week:
- Shared via email list serve
- Captured SOTA Groups and students viasocial media
- As one Advocacy SIG member is a FW Coordinator – connected with other AFWCs within Massachusetts to get word out
