As for motion capture, it requires a lot of work, preparation and set up before getting into the work to make sure nothing is out of place and causing issues during the capturing session. Lastly, Johny also mentioned that we should always look at things from a different angle, it's true that getting advice from professionals are important, but sometimes the little things in life can also play an important role in motion capture.

They have a well-organized distribution of tasks and a strict schedule. Most importantly, communication skills are essential. that mean We can't take on everything by one person; we must seek learning opportunities from those around us. When faced with challenges, it's important to ask questions. If we're not proactive in interacting with others, it could end up ruining a project.

Today’s talk was very productive and I have learnt a few new things. One of them being the usual gameplay animation assets in gaming studios. Locomotion, combat, reaction, statuses and custom animations are very important for a game to have its own personality and entertaining. Another thing I learnt from the talk today is how to create a good reel to apply for gaming studios. Showing your best works at the earlier parts of your reel really makes your talent shine. Putting projects relating to the gaming studio you are apply is also a good tip to apply during the reel making, as it can really sell yourself more, instead of putting projects unrelated to the job you are applying. Having a good LinkedIn page is also very important, as it is also a form of resume for the companies that want to hire you.

Overall, I think this talk gave a lot of useful advice, especially for animation students like us, who will go intern in the future.

JONIVIE GWYNETH_101776

From this presentation I learnt about how the studio worked at an international level. The 24 hour work cycle in which teams from different parts of the world worked on the same project albeit from different time zones where they have to align their working hours to a cycle shows that they are very adaptive and gained an advantage from it. This comes at the cost of requiring constant communication everyday which is an advantage for gaining feedbacks for improvements and fixes for their games.

As for the company's interest in talents their way of presentation is brief, short and emphasizes on the main topic suggests a very practical mindset in showcasing provides a good insight into the working attitude for a student to learn from.

In terms of creativity, while the studio prioritize cooperation in making assets and developing it still allows individual artists to provide their take on ideas or a concept, they are encouraged to communicate their ideas, to have a discussion

before approval and it has a lot of nuances before proceeding. Hierarchy of authority and power within the staff made sure that something is being made in a timely manner without ideations being stuck only in discussions.

He explains in detail the animation pipeline and how character movement in games work; in this case, Baldur's Gate 3 in-game characters. I've also learned that communication is very important in managing mocap production as it requires a lot of cross-department collaboration. Teamwork is also obviously important too as mocap animation requires a lot of process to go through and requires technical and artistic skills from different people in order to create a compelling and realistic motion capture animation.

Mr. Johnny also highlighted the teamwork involved, where animators, actors, and directors collaborate to bring characters to life. I found it inspiring to hear about the actors’ role in conveying emotions, not just actions. While there are technical challenges like managing data and fixing glitches, his insights showed us how mocap can improve storytelling in animation, and it encouraged me to explore this technique in my own work.
