Ancient Egyptians preserved the bodies of the dead so that the soul could reunite with its body and properly enjoy the afterlife. When preparing a body for mummification, the embalmer would pull the brain out through the nose, using a long metal hook.
3. The first being was Nu, the embodiment of Chaos itself. Atum followed by creating himself by using his thoughts and then he created a hill to stand on. He began life by spitting out a son and daughter, She and Tefnut.
4. A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends. After 500-100 years, it dies and revives from it's ashes.
5. Although Seth threw Osiris into the Nile, Isis wanted to give Osiris a proper burial because he would not be able to complete his journey into the afterlife. Seth having found out about Isis wanting to find Osiris, found him first and cut him up and scattered his pieces across the country. Isis found all the pieces and burned them thus completing Osiris's journey.
6. Horus was the only one powerful enough to challenge Seth, the shapeshifter. When their two armies clashed, Seth transformed into a giant Hippo to crush Horus's army. Horus then slew Seth by throwing a giant harpoon into his head.
7. Kheper, the scarab-headed God, used to signify the dawn. Kheper depicts a human having the head of a scarab beetle, and he stood for sun, protection, resurrection, and transformation for Egyptians.
8. Anubis, also popular as the jackal-headed God, was the God of tombs, dead, and embalming. Anubis tends to have a distinct black head of a jackal with the body of a man, often seen hanging around the cemeteries keeping a watch over the dead.
