Too many components for only 35 minutes. Considering Kinders are still learning routines and expectations. Seems a little ambitious for the start of the school year.

To me, each component can take 5-10 min. depending on what it is. Especially when we think about ways to bring in play. Many parts could take longer to teach.

When we take into account getting and putting materials away. It takes time for little ones. Transitioning from one component to the next as well. Tiny breaks are needed.

Contrastive analysis is a little overwhelming at the start of the school year. Very hard to do in one day. Need a couple days to complete.

Have not started dictation (R6) with my class. They are not quite ready for this yet. Shared whole group writing seems more doable at this point of the school year. Sharing the pen together on chart paper or whiteboard.

Considering we are focusing on orally telling sentences in Kinder using TWR strategies. I like the dictation of writing the beginning letter sound for a picture at this point of the school year.

Question: How are we to fit all of the components in in the time allotted, especially for English? Our schedule is bell-to-bell but that doesn't account for any transitions at all.

Question: I'm daily juggling the two SSTK teachers' guides, the letter cards, picture cards, cognate cards, big books, and Benchmark resources like big books and workbooks. It seems overwhelming for me much less the students, so I am wondering if there's a better, more effective way to organize and lay out the most strategic components for teachers to get the most bang for our buck?
