Just like the Gait Cycle, the process of walking that involves both Stance and Swing phases, you can't move forward without a solid foundation. In human movement, the Stance phase provides stability, while the Swing phase propels you ahead. Both are essential for functional mobility.

In Training and Quality (TQ), our foundation is learning. This is our anatomy—our structure. Without mastering the basics, we risk stumbling in our daily operations. Whether it's facilitating a training session or conducting phone/chat audits, we must first build the right posture: knowledge, consistency, and clarity.

Once the foundation is set, we move into action. This is our Swing phase—where we apply what we've learned, audit interactions, coach agents, and ensure quality standards are met. Movement without foundation leads to missteps; foundation without movement leads to stagnation and that applies on how we can align ourselves for our Theme: Upskill, Elevate, Accelerate.

Action Plan:

Teams hold weekly quality huddles in between Training and Quality to discuss recent issues, brainstorm solutions, and implement small changes. By doing so, with strong foundational knowledge and ongoing motion, error rates drop significantly making sure that everyone is properly aligned.

Today, I had a powerful realization about navigating ambiguity during a team game at work. I’m a PQA, and our team-building activity threw me into a game where I lined up without a clue about what I’d be playing. At the start, it was pure VUCA—volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. I felt lost, unsure how to contribute or help my team win. The rules were CLEAR, and the pressure was on.

Then, something shifted. One teammate stepped up, offering clear guidance. I leaned in, listened closely, and started analyzing what I was seeing. Slowly, the fog of ambiguity lifted. I began to understand the game’s flow, strategize with my team, and make moves that mattered. By the end, we weren’t just playing—we were collaborating with purpose.

Through my experience as a first-time associate trainer, I realized that technical knowledge alone is not enough to guide a team effectively. This taught me the importance of being present, involved, and attentive—not just to the tasks, but to the people behind them.

One of the activities we did was to create the highest tower possible. We all focused on stacking our towers as high as we could, without considering their integrity. It reminded me of the story of the oak and the bamboo. The oak was tall and mighty, while the bamboo was thin and flexible. When the storm passed, the bamboo bent and adapted, while the oak fell and broke.
