Q-When Jay Gatsby died, no one but Nick showed up at his funeral because everyone was attracted to the wealth and parties thrown, and not Gatsby himself. Does this experience that still happens today, where people see each other for the things they have, have an impact on the way we perceive society?
Answer- Yes, in today's society people are judged off of what they have. If they don't have to newest technology or nicest objects society labels them as "Poor" or "an outcast".
Q- Why do people find more happiness in money and the expensive objects they have or want?
Answer- People spend their whole lifetime buying expensive objects because they think it will bring satisfaction and happiness in their life, but what they don't realize is they can have the same amount of happiness without all that stuff. Society has brainwashed us of what is "Socially Acceptable", to others and ourselves
Q-According to the article "Modern day society has become to Materialistic", that author uses the phrase "The reason the world is chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used" (Muchwald, ODYSSEY). What would you interpret this phrase to mean?
Answer- People have spent more time trying to love the things they want or own, instead of loving the human beings we are surrounded with on a daily basis.People use each other to get ahead or get what they want, we use the people and love the objects.

Q- Why do you think Fitzgerald had the characters drives and motives be based on the money, wealth, and objects they received?
Answer-To show the theme of materialism. To show people then and still today become more in love, driven, and motivated when more money, and objects are involved.
Q- Why does most of society want the loads of money, but aren't willing to work hard for it?
Answer- Most people in our generation have a lot of things handed to them, therefore preventing them to learn the basic fundamental lesson of, working hard pays off.
Q- In the Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby became rich for many reasons, but the main one was to try and impress Daisy and win her heart back, This still occurs in today's society. Why are people more drawn to someone for the things that they have over the love that they give?
Answer- People believe money makes happiness. Society has come to the conclusion that they can not be happy with a person if they have no money to offer. This has had an affect on the way individuals in society perceive love or understand love.
