By interpreting British literature, differences and commonality become embraced and exposed in humanity. Through the stories of Beowulf, Julius Caesar, and Dr. Faustus, the desire for power leads to corruption and destruction of oneself over time. The way power corrupts in each of the stories differs: in Beowulf his desire causes him to make reckless decisions, in Julius Caesar the noblemen reject their previous morals, and in Dr. Faustus Faustus trades in his soul in order to rule over others.
