At first I thought about harmony, then Ratliff began to take about artists singing and playing instruments the exact same way in some magnificent way. I thought back to times when I was in band and the director would tell a couple of players to sound like one. The contrasting sounds and out of tune notes became white noise, but when they matched completely, it sounded heavenly. It was as if the 2 players became one and the music resonated throughout the room. I believe that this is what Ratliff is talking about; the two becoming one.
