In order to be a successful manager, you have be willing to take responsibility for your actions. You must be accountable. Accountability refers to the management philosophy whereby individuals are held liable for how well they use their authority and live up to their responsibility of performing predetermined activities.
This description really makes me believe that accountability, responsibility and authority go hand in hand.
