What did I do and why did I do it?

I created a google form for people to fill out on what grade they were in, how many electives and academic classes they had and what their average daily screen time was. I chose this question because I want to find out if screen time is affected by the amount of classes you have. Everyone is on their phones and I think that with some research we can find out if screen time and classes have anything to do with each other. This question is important for students to see if they fall into the average screen time based on their classes. I chose to use graphs to separate my data to see what grade people were in and how many academic classes/ electives people had and what their screen time was.

I created a graph that shows what grade people were in and what their screen time was, and to be expected seniors had the highest average screen time.

This graph shows that the majority seniors (purple) with lower screen times have 2 or less electives. It could be for a couple reasons such as harder electives like Spanish, cramming in credits needed to graduate or a bigger workload type of elective. This shows that students who take higher level classes are on their phones less.

This graph shows that people with all academic classes on average have lower screen times because their time spent in class is working, not staring at their phones. The students with only 2 academic classes could still be on their phones more in their other non academic class. The main data spots are 6-9 hours of screen time. There is not much activity past 10 hours due to lack of free time.

This graph shows that most people have 2 electives with an average of 4-7 hours of screen time a day.

Comparing this data and the data in the blue, you can see most seniors have two academic classes and 2 electives. Looking at the underclassmen you can see that although there wasn't much data collected from them most only have 2 electives because they have other required classes they need.

After reviewing and collecting the data I think screen time is affected by the amount of academic and electives you have. Based on the data I collected people tend to have 6-7 hours if you have more elective classes. If you had more academic classes then your average was more around 4-5 hours. With a few outliers on all graphs, overall my data showed answers to the questions. I think my data was collected very well, however, it didn't turn out quite how I thought it would, which shows that there was some bias in my questions.
