HIs relationship with his religion is still strong during chapter 2 and the questions we answered. Surviving the cattle car and not breaking is really helping with his strength even though it is bad for his health. "Free from all social constraint, young people gave way openly, to instinct, taking advantage of the darkness to flirt midst, without caring about anyone else, as they were alone in the world. The rest pretended not to notice anything. We still had a few provisions left. But we never ate enough to satisfy our hunger. To save our rule; save up for tomorrow. Tomorrow may be worse. (Wiesel 21)."

His relationship with his religion is still holding on with some bumps in the roads. Given on what I read Elie in the beginning of Chapter 3 is still strong and quiet encouraged not to end up like those babies and elders who were thrown in the crematorium for being too weak and too young/old. That is also why they were asked and actually lied about their ages. "No. The man sounded angry. Not fifty. You're forty. Do you hear? Eighteen and forty." (Wiesel 30). "Your age?" he asked, perhaps trying to sound paternal. "Im eighteen." My voice was trembling. "In good health?" "Yes." "Your profession?" "Farmer," I heard myself saying." (Wiesel 31).

His relationship with his religion is gone. All his belief just vanished when the little pipel was hung in the gallows. Like Elie said at the end of Chapter 4, "Where is He? Here He is-He is hanging here on this + gallows...." (Wiesel 65). As a response to someone saying, "For God's sake, where is God?" (Wiesel 65). He just said that he was dead.

"What are You, my God? I thought angrily. How do You compare to this sicken mass gathered to affirm to You their faith , their anger, their defiance?" (Wiesel 66).
