Tandas curah is a sanitary toilet use to prevent water borne disease, prevent bad odour and to create a view that is least disgusting.

  • Sanitary toilets aim at creating a system where the fecal matter can be disposed in a proper way to avoid spread of disease.
  • The materials needed to make these toilets are provided by BAKAS to those whom are unable to purchase them.
  •  Allocation of material for the BAKAS unit per year is around 
    • Tandas curah: 30-40 units
    • Each toilet cost about RM900

Criteria:
  • The toilet site must be at flat and high area - to prevent from flood
  • Far from water source (e.g.river, well)- prevent water pollution
  • Area around tandas curah (2 meter) need to be clean and dry

Objectives:
  • Reduce the morbidity of waterborne disease 
  • To maintain the cleanliness of residential areas and village areas and practice healthy living 
  • Improving all aspects of hygiene in rural areas 

Importance:
  • Control & prevent water borne disease (e.g. cholera, dysentery)
  • Prevent water pollution and prevent contamination of land surface
  • Prevent bad odour & unpleasant sight

- SPAL aims to improve the garbage disposal and good wastewater disposal in rural areas in line with the goal of "Mesra Alam". It is carried out in conjunction with toilet assistance activities and safe water supply.
