After the presentation of the Edison lamp, the new electric lighting systems became the most important technological achievement in the world. In addition, electricity could substitute steam to operate the motors.
Main problem: the transport of energy based on direct current over long distances was very expensive.

Tesla was convinced that alternating current was a better solution. The AC, unlike the DC, can raise the voltage with a transformer which facilitates transport over long distances with little loss in the form of heat and once the electricity reaches its destination, the power plants, before supplying the Energy to customers, reduce the voltage to safe levels.

Edison, threatened by the emergence of Tesla's technology, confronts him in a public relations battle, which newspapers called "the war of the currents," to determine which system would become the dominant technology. Edison electrocuted dogs, cats and even an elephant to prove that alternating current was dangerous. To neutralize this initiative, Tesla was exposed to a CA that went through his body without causing him any harm. After this test, Edison could not do anything and his prestige was eroded.
