My black classicist I chose was Frazelia Campbell born on March 18,1849 to Fredrick and Julia Campbell.She grew up in Charleston,South Carolina. She studied at Philadelphia’s institute for colored youth than graduated in 1867. She doesn’t stop there she goes on to teach Latin,German, and Spanish at the institute of colored youth. In 1876 she becomes the head of the women’s department of the institute.Shortly after she became the principal of the girls high school at the institute, after they discontinued its academic work in 1902.She moved to the University of Allen. She taught for 12 years at the university of Allen then later moved back to Philadelphia.She stayed in Philadelphia and died at the age of 81 in her home on October 5 1930.

He was the first ever black classicist. He was born in 1903. He lived in Augusta, Georgia and studied at Paine college. He spoke Greek. He found the walls and gates that led to the Greek city of Eretria. He faced challenges like, racism and violence. He died on 1923 and was then buried in Cedar grove cemetery.
