Hi Year 5s! This page is dedicated to many things that you need to know about light. The things you learn on this page will help you create your Light Maze.

As you go through, remember to take notes. It is a great idea to also refer back to your task sheet so you know what is needed. Enjoy investigating!

You would have had an opportunity to see how light reflects in the previous session however, here is a more detailed explanation that you can look back on any time to help you as you design the maze.

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt-SG7Pn8UU

In class, you will have the opportunity to have a play around with mirrors and other surfaces to see how the light reflects. think about the surface that reflect the most/least effectively. This will come in handy when designing your maze.

Before you move on, follow this link to try an online activity to get a feeling for how different angles reflect light.

http://www.scootle.edu.au/ec/viewing/L4153/index.html

In class, we are going to discuss what light is. Before we do that though, we will have a play around with some torches and different objects and see what we can observe about how light acts.

We asked ourselves the following questions:
- What happens when we shine a light on a mirror?
- What happens when we shine a light on a prism?
- What do we notice when a straw is put in a glass of water?
- What would happen if we shone a light through clear plastic/wax paper/aluminium foil?

If you are away for this session, don't panic! A recap of what we discussed in class can be seen on this video and on the image below. We watched this video to confirm some of our thoughts. We then recorded some of our ideas on the research section of our project.

If the video doesn't play, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm__GAlrBuQ
