Both of the evidence I provided shows that the character Santiago is a Classic here because of the graphic novel because he introducing both and that is usually what they do with classic hero.

The motif humility had a big impact on the characters of the book. One of the characters it impacted the most is Santiago. It impacted him by keeping the book to move forward. For example, when he worked at the crystal shop for the man because he needed the money to buy a camel. During his time there he gave his ideas to the man that ran the store. This led to the crystal shop gaining many more customers.

Both of the different texts emphasize the boy Santiago and his sole saying that he found the way to preform miracles by turning into the wind. But in the Graphic Novel version you can see Santiago standing in front of himself as if he was wind which is something that you wouldn't probably think of with reading the original text.

both of the stories emphasize the importance of Fatima and Santiago being reminded of her and wanting to go back and get her. In both, you get the image of her kissing him and it says it in the text and shows a picture of it in the graphic novel. The difference between the two is that in original text you get a lot of describning words. For example it talks about her perfume and that that how he knows its her and in the graphic novel you dont know that.

One of the strengths of the original text is that it is way more descriptive than the graphic novel. For example, at the end of the book, the original text states, "It was the levanter, the wind that came from Africa. It didn’t bring with it the smell of the desert, nor the threat of Moorish invasion. Instead, it brought the scent of a perfume he knew well, and the touch of a kiss–a kiss that came from far away, slowly, slowly, until it rested on his lips"(Coelho). This shows that it is more descriptive because all the graphic novel shows is the wind in the shape of a girl who kisses him. A weakness of the Original text is all of the long-winded sentences. These sentences can sometimes give boring and not needed information. For example, "His prayer didn’t give thanks for his sheep having found new pastures; it didn’t ask that the boy be able to sell more crystal; and it didn’t beseech that the woman he had met continue to await his return"(Coelho). This piece of text can provide boring information that is long for the readers to read.

One of the strengths of the graphic novel is it lets you see what is happening and you know based on the pictures what is happening in the book. For example, when the Alchemist is telling Santiago a story you can see the angle and the man and know what they look like based on the pictures provided. A weakness of the graphic novel is that you can't use you imagination throughout the book. For example when the Alchemist is telling a story to Santiago your they give you a picture of what they look like and you can't use your imagination.
