         <description><![CDATA[<p>All connective tissue develops from mesenchyme (collection of undifferentiated cells).</p><ol><li><p>Mesenchyme develops into immature cells (-blast: fibroblast, chondroblast, osteoblast)</p></li><li><p>Immature cells divide and make up the extracellular matrix (protein fibre + ground substance)</p></li><li><p>Immature cells differentiate into mature cells (-cyte: fibrocyte, chondrocyte, osteocyte)</p></li><li><p>Mature cells regulate and maintain the extracellular matrix. They have reduced capacity for cell division.</p></li></ol>]]></description>
