The Great Buddah of Kamakura is located on the grounds of the Kotokuin Temple. The great buddah dates back to the 13th century and is the second tallest bronze Buddha in Japan. The statue is hollow, and visitors can view the interior. Many visitors have left graffiti on the inside of the statue. They built temples at the north, south, east and west corners of Kamakura city to receive the protection of Buddhism. And then, they thought they needed a symbol of the newly established capital. This was Daibutsu.

The fortress was one of the regional government centers during the Joseon Dynasty. It was built to protect the city. It shows the military architecture back in the 18th century. What makes it unique is that it covers flat and hilly land. This gave them a very efficient defense. King Jeongjo built it for defensive purposes, for the remains of his father, to form a new political basis, and crown Prince Jangheon.

This shows their military strength and their technology advancements. The Joseon dynasty was very strong and made Korea how it is today more modern.

The shrine was built around 711 CE and grew in size and importance over time it even receied a torii gate from Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1589. It is seen as the principal residence of the kami Inari, Shinto god of rice and commerce. Also in Shinto, shrines are devoted to the worship of multiple gods called “kami". This is showing that Japan wants to keep its own culture and uses selective borrowing for the archictecture from China.

Seokguram Grotto represents the enlightenment in Buddha. The building outside is called “Buseoksa,” it’s called that meaning a floating stone. It’s known for its simple but beautiful architecture. It is a series of wood buildings on stone platforms. It is considered a masterpiece of the golden age. The temple was built during the Goryeo Dynasty and the beginning of Joseon Dynasty before it was burned by the Imjin War. Prime Minister Kim Dae-seong initiated the construction of the temple and the grotto because of the memories of his parents in his present life and the memory of his parents from a previous life. In 1376 it was finally rebuilt. This is historically important because of China's influence on Korea for Buddhism. Their architecture and religion are very similar.

Angkor Wat, built in the early twelfth century, served as a monument to a powerful king, Suryavarman II, and also as his tomb, The temple, dedicated to Vishnu. The architecture and layout of the capital witness to a high level of social order and ranking within the Khmer Empire. Angkor is therefore a major site showing cultural, religious and symbolic values, as well as containing high architectural, archaeological and artistic significance.
