Until one day, an accident almost claimed his life. 

Being rich and powerful had its own poison, when one evening they got attacked in their own home. Yldenfrei's parents had sacrificed themselves and entrusted a butler with him to escape before danger falls on him, but even he was chased and got almost killed. 

Lying in the woods in his own pool of blood, on the verge of death, he met a man who said he was just "passing by" and claimed that he could heal Yldenfrei in no time in exchange for a contract. He easily agreed to it without hearing the rest of it as he was consumed with anger and guilt, wanting nothing more than to gain a second life if it means he gets to avenge his family.

Yldenfrei barely remembered the process but the next time he woke up, a whole day had passed. He felt much more alive during the night, he could see and hear things even more clearly. Moreover, he craved for the taste of blood in his mouth. He was once a sociable person, yes, but relationships for him had gone a little complicated ever since his only family was taken away from him. In fact, he rarely even went to visit his own Maker - the one who turned him into a vampire - after he was left to survive on his own as a new fledgling.

But all of the walls he built around his undead heart crumbled upon coming into Cecile's life. Their first meeting was something Yldenfrei would like to change if possible, but maybe fate deemed it to be just right for the two of them.

Wounded and on the brink of turning into ashes from a silver dagger that was stabbed into his chest, merely inches away from his undead heart - Cecile was the one who saved him by giving him blood bags just like how he asked for it.

Yldenfrei thought of repaying him by taking him out to dinner the next evening, which Cecile had reluctantly agreed to at first. A next one followed after that, and soon enough, it became a habit as Yldenfrei had begun taking all of his chances to ask Cecile out for dinner. If Cecile was busy, he'd even ask his human assistant to prepare dinner for him, which the vampire would bring to the doctor in his clinic.

It had been 3 years since he asked Cecile to officially become his lover, and since then Yldenfrei's days (or nights) had become much more brighter after fate brought them together. He's never been more thankful of the dull eternal life he once resented.
