The respiratory system works with the circulatory system to provide this oxygen and to remove the waste products of metabolism. The body cells need a continuous supply of oxygen for the metabolic processes that are necessary to maintain life. The respiratory system works with the circulatory system to provide this oxygen and to remove the waste products of metabolism.
