Worksite wellness is about the connections between employees, having a sense of purpose, and feeling valued and care for while also developing healthy habits for your body and mind. Worksite wellness is encouraging employees to be healthy at the worksite by offering healthier food options, the ability to be physically active and practice mindfulness and resiliency. Through the support of senior leadership, worksite wellness can evolve, and it can help shape the culture of the organization. By creating healthier and happier employees, worksite wellness will help to reduce employee turnover, boost employee productivity and morale, which can lead to a more engaged employee population who is thriving at the worksite.

In this "recipe" it is based on what people need to do to achieve a good sense of well-being and overall health. These are also simple and easy things one can do in order to get engaged yet achieving the national guidelines from the CDC and Choose my Plate. Also, it helps one to create that SMART goal, because each one of these ingredients one can do and feel a sense of accomplishment.

A brief explanation of what you wished to find out and what drove you to pursue this topic.

What drove me to pursue this topic was the TED Talk we watched from Dr. Christakis and thinking about how social networks influence behavior. This is something I have been interested in and really did not make the connection to the Social Contagion Theory until this semester. As I was developing my project, I wanted to focus more on the overall well-being of staff members, I thought of doing my project more on resiliency and mindfulness but there are initiatives set into place for that. Then Froedtert Health got approved to implement Workplace by Facebook. While developing my project, I was also doing a project at work called “Choose 2 Renew U”. I saw this project grow over the three-month challenge and thought to myself how the social networking among co-workers drove others to register and participate in the program. Then with Workplace being implemented, I thought it would be a great tool to use and assess how social networking can influence behavior change. How will the group grow, thrive and share information among each other? Is this a great way to get more people involved in the Workplace tool and in our Wellness Works programs?

If what you shared with your classmates helped answer your driving question and whether you received valuable feedback from others.

This whole semester has been a great collaboration and connection with other classmates. Perhaps going forward working in small groups or pairs to help each other out during the semester and help to share ideas would have been nice. Especially maybe grouping us together by our topic of choice. The use of padlet has been nice, an idea I had going forward, is to maybe use padlet right away in the beginning of the program (or something similar to it) and have professors refer back to your "briefcase padlet" every semester. This way as you are going through the classes and researching information, videos and more, this could be a place to save the information and refer back to it. Then as you are developing your project in 780, as a student you could have years of information posted on here.

What you would do differently in terms of what you did and how you presented your project.

Looking back from when the semester started until now, I would have asked more questions and researched the topics closely. First, I thought I would have been focusing on well-being at the workplace or the culture of the organization. This overall project has been a challenge for me. I would have made sure I knew the steps more clearly, so I could have been more effective in my earlier research of the project. Even looking back at my original power point, paper and presentation, I feel that what I have done now is completely different. My topic and driving question changed during the semester and since my topic changed, it was a challenge to use any of my original ideas or resources. I am excited about the project I created and I am excited that many staff members that I have talked to about it seem excited about it too.
