Evaluative

For us, the moon and shadow are indeed effective metaphors for the speaker’s emotions. Why? The moon represents an unresponsive companion, whilst the shadow mirrors him but lacks thought. Together, they turn his isolation into an imaginary trio made up of his emotions. This trio captures the speaker’s longing for companionship and his self-awareness of his isolation.

The speakers attitude towards it’s “companion” solves from hopeful invitation to bittersweet acceptance, reflecting a journey from imaginative connection to quiet resignation.

Inferative:

Question 1 (or number 3):

It was most likely because he was drunk and had no friends around. He may have wanted someone to talk to but found no one. However, we can't say for certain, as the poem doesn't provide enough information to fully confirm this.

Question 2 (or number 4):

He realized that he must be happy with his surroundings. He sat and sing then the moon accompanied him. When he's dancing, he feels like he's just dancing with his shadow.

Creative

If I was the speaker in the poem and for a while I could speak to the moon and shadow I would feel less lonely drinking wine. It is clearly stated in the poem that the speaker was very lonely and with much drinks I was able to sing with the moon and dance with my shadow, In conclusion I would feel less lonely and enjoy drinking with my new found friends.

        10. After singing and dancing with my newfound "friends", the night dims, and so does my consciousness. As I wake up and there was no moon by my side, my shadow is again emptily by my side and I shall remember that night as a dream that I long to experience again.
