What can you do?

Supply
- supply would be difficult because you are only there teacher one day, but you can offer to volunteer at other events (eg: play)
- volunteer for events you are comfortable with/have some skills, even if you are not familiar with the students
- as a supply, we can only assist, not run event (regulation 274)
- example: can make suggestions to the main coach
- as a supply, you don't have lesson plans, so you have more time than if you were an occasional or long term teacher
- as a supply, you can check the inventory of the equipment regarding safety (to show you are taking these into consideration)
- Example: in a school, a supply was asked to run a book club by the principal.
- supplies on priorities list can do events/run clubs because they are there most days
- can assist with current events in the school/clubs (eg: run study hall)
- supplying: problem with volunteering is that you don't know when you will be called in or where for jobs, so that would make volunteering  at a specific school difficult. But volunteering at a school can help you get in the priority list
- doing events/clubs/initiatives that are in demand would be beneficial. Example: maker space

Occasional
- closer to permanent because there for a longer period of time
- sometimes you are doing your own lesson planning, so now you don't have as much time for extracurriculars 
- long term occasional and doing clubs is a great way for admin to know you 
- coaching and being occasional means you will build a stronger rapport with students because you are in class and extracurricular
- however: as an occasional, you are starting almost new (you need to make your materials for the first time, you need to make your lessons and plans for the first time), so limit your involvement or do something you can easily do (example: after school play, rather than prep or during lunch). You may have the previous teacher's materials, but you may not want to use that
