         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thailand has an uneven population distribution. With a clustered population distribution in the central regions of Thailand, in Bangkok, Chonburi and Pathum Thani, known as the 'core' of Thailand. Areas with lower population distribution are areas in the North such as Nan and the Korat Plateau which have low population densities. This is known as the periphery.&nbsp;<br>Thailand has more than one 'core' area with high population distribution. Other areas include the southern regions such as Phuket and in the North, Chiang mai, which both have high population distributions. </div>]]></description>

With links to the core-periphery model, these regions can be known as the 'core'. Areas with a lower population distribution are the areas in the North and Northeast in areas such as Nan. These would be known as the 'periphery' regions. An anomaly would be down south in Phuket as it has a high population distribution despite surrounding areas being fairly sparse. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe Egypt fits the core-periphery model:<br>its population is linearly distributed either side of the River Nile.<br>the main core area is about the bird-footed Nile Delta I would say, with major cities like Alexandria (port city), Giza and Cairo.<br>periphery locations are further down the Nile as well as sparsely popped areas of desert to the west and east.<br>a second core could be the Sinai peninsula, great tourism with reefs in the Red Sea, Suez canal provides great transport and trade routes.</div>]]></description>
