         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although possibly born in Lincoln, Byrd at an early age became a pupil of Tallis in London. When Byrd's mentor Tallis died 1585, It made Byrd set his musical house in order, for in the next three years he published four of his own music: <em>Psalmes, Sonets, &amp; Songs of Sadnes and Pietie</em> (1588), <em>Songs of Sundrie Natures</em> (1589), and two further books of <em>Cantiones sacrae</em> (1589 and 1591).          <description><![CDATA[<div>William Byrd was one of the greatest composers of the Renaissance. Other great composers were Orlando di Lasso and Tomás Luis de Victoria. He managed to surpass all but Victoria for their emotional fevor in their music, and Lasso for their variety of forms and styles. Byrd spread musicc throughout the entire part of England, and was a major contribution to the High (Northern) Renaissance. (Beeks, Graydon.
