#1 How and why did you family come to the United States?

As far as my dads side, both they lived in Mexico and moved to Texas. As far as I could go back, my mom side has been in Texas since it's been a state. My dad's great grandpa was the one to settle in Texas. I'm not completely sure why he decided to move but I know it did have something to do with having a better opportunity.

#2 What are some of the obstacles that they met?

In 1846 Before the Mexican-American war my mom's side of the family was struggling to decide if they should move into mexican or American territory, and didn't have the funds at the moment to do so. They eventually decided to stay and hope for the best.

In around 1850, my dad's side of the family had decided to move to Texas, which had been a US state for a few years now. I don't know much about the story of how they got there but I do know since they made it there, for many generations they've stayed in genuinely the same region.

#3 What was going on Historically in the U.S. during this time and did it affect you family?

When Texas became a state, it was to contribute to the Mexican-American War. My mom's side of the family was already in Texas when it was no longer a part of Mexico, and my dad's side of the family had moved into Texas a while after the Mexican-American War. The upcoming War scared my mom's side of the family but they ultimately didn't move locations. The War stopped my dad's side of the family from coming to Texas, but a few years after, they did end up moving and have stayed there ever since then.
