He started working in the Company in 1940 and in 1971 was the CEO until 1989.

Within 10 years he was financial director and also took charge of marketing and advertisement. 

Under his leadership, Heineken grew into a global powerhouse.

Freddy died in 2002 aged 78, and by then had turned Heineken into one of the world’s best-known brands.
