Celebrated near Puebla, Mexico and parts of the U.S. It's the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla in honor of the victory in 1862. Traditions of Cinco de Mayo include parades, reenactments of the battle and other festivities. Juarez was on his second out of five terms of presidency during this war. After this war, Mexico had absolutely no money. With one small army, he took on the powerful French forces. He never expected to become a general, as he started of studying in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. He went towards priesthood, but then left. He was noticing that Mexico had lost more than half of it's territory and went into the Nuevo Leon army. Ferdinand ordered a frontal assault up the Cerro de Guadelupe against the Mexican position. This was fortified by a ditch and a brick wall.
