         <description><![CDATA[<div>Celebrated: May 5th.<br>Celebrated near Puebla, Mexico and parts of the U.S. It's the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla in honor of the victory in 1862. Traditions of Cinco de Mayo include parades, reenactments of the battle and other festivities. In the U.S it's a celebration to embrace the Mexican culture, they celebrate also with parades, but also with music, and food. </div>]]></description>

Juarez was on his second out of five terms of presidency during this war. After this war, Mexico had absolutely no money. When the war war was over, Benito suspended all payment of foreign debt. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As Britain and Spain withdrew Napoleon seized the opportunity to make a dependent empire out of Mexican territory. 6,000 troops were sent to attack Puebla de los Angeles. As the battle was coming to an end the french realized they were losing more troops than Mexico. </div>]]></description>

He led a cavalry unit in the battle of Puebla which only slowed down the process of the french, he's reputation was rewarded as being one of the great minds under Juarez.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ignacio Zaragoza was the Mexican general for the Battle of Puebla. With one small army, he took on the powerful French forces. He never expected to become a general, as he started of studying in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. He went towards priesthood, but then left.  He was noticing that Mexico had lost more than half of it's territory and went into the Nuevo Leon army. He went from a sergeant then later to a captain.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Charles Ferdinand was the general for the French forces. Ferdinand ordered a frontal assault up the Cerro de Guadelupe against the Mexican position. This was fortified by a ditch and a brick wall. Charles lost around 1,000 men after being repulsed by the Mexican forces. They then had to retreat. </div>]]></description>
