رمضان، شهر الخير والبركة والغفران، وهو شهر تعمّ فيه البركات وتكثر فيه الحسنات وتقل فيه السيئات؛ ففي شهر رمضان المبارك يُضاعف الله سبحانه وتعالى الأجر لعباده، ويغمرهم بعظيم لطفه ورحمته، فهو شهر استجابة الدعوات، وشهر العبادات، وفيه أيضاً يكثر تقديم الصدقات للفقراء والمحتاجين، وينتشر الخير بين الناس، وتكثر فيه صلة الأرحام وإقامة الولائم.

لشهر رمضان المبارك الكثير من الفضائل، ففيه بدأ نزول القرآن الكريم على سيدنا محمد، وفيه ليلة عظيمة من أعظم الليالي، وهي ليلة القدر، حيث يعادل أجر العبادة والقيام فيها عبادة ألف شهر، وفيه يتنزل الله جلّ وعلا إلى السماء الدنيا فيستجيب دعوات عباده، ويغفر ذنوبهم ويبسط يديه للمستغفرين، كما يعمّ فيها السلام من مغيب الشمس حتى طلوع الفجر.

Ramadan is a special month for Muslims. In this month, Allah gives more rewards and has great mercy. It is a month when worshiper's duaa (prayers) are answered, and they do more good deeds. During Ramadan, Muslims give money and food to the poor. They help each other, spend time with loved one, and share their meals. Ramadan is very special to us because the Quran started coming to Prophet Muhammad in this month. There is also a very important night called Laylat al-Qadr, It is one of the last 10 days of Ramadan. Worshiping on this night is better than worshiping for 1,000 months. On this night, Allah listens to our duaa (prayers), forgives our sins, and gives us peace from sunset to sunrise.

Ramadan is the month of goodness, blessings, and forgiveness. It is a month filled with blessings, where good deeds multiply, and bad deeds. In the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from pre-dawn to sunset, a fast of between 8-10 hours depending on the time of year for a period of 29-30 days. Ramadan entails forgoing food and drink. For Muslims, Ramadan is a time to train themselves both physically and spiritually by avoiding any negative acts such as gossiping, backbiting, lying, or arguing. Muslims welcome Ramadan as an opportunity for self-reflection and spiritual improvement, and as a means to grow in moral excellence. Ramadan is also a highly social time as Muslims invite each other to make Iftar together and meet for prayers at the mosque. The ultimate goal of fasting is gaining greater God-consciousness, known in Arabic as Al- taqwa, signifying a state of constant awareness of God. From this awareness, a person should gain discipline, self-restraint, and a greater incentive to do good and avoid wrong. In commemoration of the revelation the Qur’an, which began in the month of Ramadan, Muslims attempt to read the entire book during Ramadan. The entire Qur’an is also recited during special nightly prayers.Those unable to fast such as pregnant or nursing women, the sick, or the elderly people & children, are exempt from fasting.
