In the movie The Case for Christ, Lee and Leslie Strobel were a married with a child, and did not believe in God. After their child had almost died in a restaurant and was saved by a nurse, Leslie befriends her.  After learning about God from the nurse, Alfie, Leslie makes the decision to lest God into her life and go to church.
This is around a week after their child almost died.
]]> 2017-12-19 19:31:42 UTC https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217355263 How has your perspective on faith changed over the course of the semester? joshlynaguirre21 https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217357517 I remember coming into FSHA scared, because I had never been to a school where Religion was a class.  I had just always assumed that we would just read scriptures directly from the Bible.  I have always grown up in a religious household, and always somewhat had a concrete idea of my personal faith and how I viewed God.  Sometimes I feel like the level of complexity that I had deepened in can be compared from a first grade essay to and eighth grade essay.  At the very beginning of the year, when I was asked who God was, I responded with “God is comprised of the God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  God is someone who many put their utter and unending trust, strength, and soul to.”  While this is something I still do maintain, I gave been able to delve into so much more than I even knew I could then.  In a recent paper I wrote, I said, “As I have grown and matured in my faith, I have been able to see God differently as I have grown up following the heavy religious teachings of my parents, or the people in my environment.  I view God as someone permanently constant in my life.  Therefore, as friends will come and go, He’s there to constantly support me.  God is someone I try to put my complete trust in, because I know that our relationship is intimate.  I am always given a sense of security in times of doubt because I know that He’s someone I can always come back to and rely on.”]]> 2017-12-19 19:39:06 UTC https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217357517 How do you feel that you’ve grown personally over the course of the semester? What have you learned about yourself? joshlynaguirre21 https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217357742 Personally, I have learned that I can always do more and be more than what is expected.  What I mean by this is that coming to FSHA, I will admit that I never really knew what hard work was.  I don’t know if that is from lack of maturity or otherwise but, nonetheless, these last five months at FSHA have taught me so much more that I would have ever imagined, and not just academically.  Being in an environment with other like- minded girls has made an immense impact on my life.  Seeing how hardworking the people in your community are only pushes you more.  I have learned the true meaning of hard work, and what it takes to produce something great.  The decisions you make impact your life so much, and in every aspect.  Choosing the right people to be friends with influence your academic and athletic life greatly.  As aforementioned, you are immensely impacted by the people in your community and that all ties back into the book Tattoos on the Heart by Father Gregory Boyle.  In the words of Ava Ford, “we create our lives with the choices we make”.  So many gang members had proactively made the decision that they wanted to make an impact on their life, and by making one decision, their life was changed forever.  What is additionally inspirational about this, however, is that it is applicable to anyone.  The moment you decide that you want to make a change in your life, or the world, you can do it.

]]> 2017-12-19 19:39:52 UTC https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217357742 How do you feel your faith or how you’ve grown can impact others and the world? joshlynaguirre21 https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217363454 I feel that my faith can impact others in the world because one doesn’t necessarily have to believe in God to value the lessons that come from the Bible.  Before taking Religion here, I never knew how big of an impact you can make on your own life, and you are in complete control of it.  I think that there is something that everyone can always learn, and there will always be room for improvement.  For instance, a person who doesn’t identify with a religion or denomination (if one at all) can always learn from the teachings of the Bible, along with everyone else.  As evidenced by many stories, it is a common occurrence that a believer has influenced someone who doesn’t, like in the movie The Case for Christ.  Through that movie, I learned what how big of an impact personal decisions make.  If more people in the world were influenced by the teachings of the bible, religious or not, your life will be impacted forever.]]> 2017-12-19 19:58:16 UTC https://padlet.com/joshlynaguirre21/bjlb0d6g7gks/wish/217363454
