The television serie is set at the end of the 19th century, on Prince Edward Island, in the eastern coast of Canada.

In a sensitive way, the show treats about feminism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism, human rights, bullying and freedom of speech. Anne with an E has powerful scenes, deeply dialogues and a well-chosen cast with strong female characters.

The serie is a must-see show, reflects a realistic portrayal of the society of the 1800s, but that fits perfectly nowadays too.
