Agree/Disagree?

There were many things I can say that I agree with from what Connerly is saying but there is also many of his ideas that I disagree with. I agree with his overall view of what "true equality" is but I disagree with his view that the "majority of Americans want tolerance, peace and understanding". I believe that the US, as a people is still very divided when it comes to race, and this is evident when you look at politics. Though to be honest, the media plays a big part in how we view the world at the moment. I agree when he says that " we treat individuals as individuals" but part of the reason I believe that the US is very divided is because things like tolerance and understanding aren't being practiced.

Relatable to something in politics today?

This relates to everything in our politics and government today. We see it in the news, protest, and in our everyday lives. This issue of race will be here for a long time but, I believe that somewhere in the near future we come to a majority of Americans having more understanding and tolerance. With the ever growing reach of social media I think it is possible.

In Ward Connerly's, Back To Equality, we see Connerly fight for true quality. Having seen racial discrimination "up close", he speak about witnessing a woman who was kicked out of a class because it was "reserved for African Americans". She was also kicked out of a English class because it was for Latino race only, but she needed this class to graduate. He also mentions one of his run ins with racism but tries to remind us that "despite our differences as individuals, we have something in common: We are citizens of a great land founded on the glorious principle of freedom for all".
