Hello everyone , good morning , how are you ? This is Sharmin from Bangladesh . I am student of Ulster University and my major is international tourism and hospitality management . Now I am going to talk about my Bangladeshi people who are like to move from rural to urban areas.
Ok , generally speaking , in Bangladesh rural to urban migration is a very common thing . Nowadays , rural people are migrating to cities for seeking a better life . According to ( Mehta , 2000 ) , nearly one billion residents in cities of developing world are estimated to be poor , and the trend of urbanization and poverty increasingly alarming . The number of people living in urban slums is expected to be double within 2025. So , finally I would like to say that there are several kinds of perspective to migrate people rural to urban areas such as environmental , social and economical and I think those are most important cause . I am going to explain why those are crucial things that people move from rural to urban areas.
First of all , according to International Journal of Ethics in Social Science , vol 1, no. 1 , December 2013 , from social and economic perspective female children are an additional burden for Bangladeshi society . So the poor families remain very much anxious for the marriage of their daughters and want to reduce the number of family members through marriage . But dowry is unavoidable for marriage and it becomes impossible for poor father to provide the demanded dowry . So the poor rural women come to cities and work in garments factories and earn money to fulfill the demand dowry . Moreover , survey shows that at least 2% respondents have identified it as the major reason of migration .
Secondly , environmentally speaking , Bangladesh is a riverine country . However , river-erosion is a common phenomenon for the people living in river bank areas . River erosion washes away houses , assets , and people become helpless and shelter less. That is why people migrate to the cities in order to construct their new dwelling place.

On the other hand , another perspective is that most of the people leave their rural house and move to urban areas for getting good educational institute , good tutor and also good career . Economically speaking , in urban areas has a lot of job opportunities because there has a plenty of garments , industry , and business institute that is why people think that they will get good job , good salary in the town .

In conclusion , the destinations of migrants are few developed and urbanized cities which needs particular attention in policy planning . If the current migration trends continue , few cities will have an excessive population , which will increase density and pollution , thereby decreasing living standards . Finally , education training , and work opportunities for migrants should be safeguarded in the area of origin.
