This is true for me because a gothic story has something to deal with evil creatures, like a vampire or skeletons.  There will also be darkness because in gothic stories, there are no light, except for the moon or the sun. In the picture here, there is mist block the view, so it leads a mystery that must be solved.
2. I think monsters are created and born from events because The monster from Frankenstien was created by a person, and monsters, like Dracula, were born by themselves. 
3. I do not agree with this because scientist will urge to do whatever they can to succeed with their experiments, even if that is creating a monster that leads to destruction. Reason 2: This setting has house with darkness covering most of the photo, and also there is no light emitted from the houses, so it might be a mystery.
