What do you know about amateur talent groups? For many people its just a synonym for dabblers. Sometimes it may be so. Rather, I see it as a way of self-development. You always try harder and harder to prove to everyone that you can. And you can. All of us can fulfill his dream.

So, amateur talent groups is a stage of development and the first step on the road to professional theatre.

There I want to share some practical suggestions! Please, try them if you have an opportunity.

1. The first exercise called "ПФД" which means "Память физического действия" (literally, "the memory of physical action") in Russian.

Take something in you hand, for example, an apple, and try to remember how contract all your muscles. You can touch it, toss it up, twiddle or do whatever your want. Than take this object away. You should repeat all your actions without an object.
I suggest you start with something simply shaped like a glass, a ball, a clew or a bottle.
This exercise teach your how to control your actions and body at all. Its a daily routine for all actors with plenty of practice or not.
The next level is well coordinated team-work. For example, try to pass the ball changing ways of passing and proportions of the ball.
So, have you got it?

2. The Mirror

You need a partner for this exercise (or you can find somebody somwhere and mimic him. I just want to warn you: Its not in a civilized manner!)

While your partner show you various actions you should mimic him like reflection in the mirror. The more specific, the better.

3. Nameless(I dont thought of a name)

Finde an interesting poem and read it expressively. Than imagine yourself in a very unusual situation, for example, on the political debate. Try to read this poem according to the situation.

Oh, it's my favorite part! Shadow play, also known as shadow puppetry. In this mistical atmosphere of dark and light you can find something really charming. Nevertheless, it's way more simple than it looks.
We use cut-out figures (in other words shadow puppets) which are held between a source of light (we use floodlight from Mariinsky theatre, but it's another interesting story) and a translucent screen.

The main rule when your work on the other side of the screen: you should stay only in profile or facing the audience. Roughly speaking, "in a plane".
