Cuando llegaba a mi escuela, iba a mi primera clase, la clase de matemáticas. Mi profesor de la clase de matemáticas, el Señor Hernández era energético pero exigente, tenía que hacer mucha tarea cada día. Después, tenía la clase de inglés, la Sra. García era mi profesora y ella no era muy popular porque nunca contestaba preguntas. Mi profesora favorita era la Sra. López (profesora de español). Ella era interesante y divertida, en la clase los otros estudiantes y yo aprendíamos mucho. El Sr. Rodríguez era el profesor de la clase de historia  mundial. El era inteligente e informativo. Todas las clases duraban una hora y treinta minutos.  

Generalmente, mi familia y yo íbamos al mercado las semanas pero una vez fuimos a la boda de mi prima. Para preparar por la boda de mi prima (Giselle), fui a la tienda de ropa y compré un vestido azul de seda, compré una camisa y los zapatos para Giselle. También, fui a la florería y compré flores para Giselle. En la boda, se di un regalo durante. Le encantaba mi regalo. Después de la boda, Giselle y el marido de Giselle fueron de vacaciones a Costa Rica.

Los domingos, mi familia y yo íbamos a la catedral para rezar. A veces, mis hermanos y yo íbamos a la tienda de deportes mientras mis padres iban a la panadería. Después estábamos comprando todas las cosas que necesitábamos, íbamos a la heladería.

Después, fui a la tienda de ropa, vi un traje de baño azul blanco, éste era bonito y barato, costó veinte euros. Había dos vestidos de seda en mi talla, uno era azul claro y el otro era magenta. Compré el traje de baño y el vestido magenta de seda por ciento euros.

Mientras estaba comprando, mi madre me llamó y dije “Compras algo para mí y la familia por favor.” Después del centro comercial, fui al mercado para comprar algo para mi familia en Estados Unidos. Una mujer estaba vendiendo unas bolsas, compré una para mi madre, ésta era azul y blanca. Compré unas tarjetas postales, unas carteras de cuero, tres pinturas, y más  para mi familia en Estados Unidos.

Personally, I liked learning Spanish online, it allowed me to go at my own pace, sometimes units were more confusing to me so having it online allowed me to re-watch lessons, grammar activities and more. Because this class was online I was also able to get more practice in with reading and listening than I would in a classroom. I feel that I would do worse in a real live class because it wouldn’t move at my pace and it wouldn’t give me as much practice. 

I liked how I could practice with conjugating and grammar rules an infinite number of times. I also liked how I could redo assignments in order to get a better grade and understand the concepts more. I would’ve liked a little more culture facts in the culture sections, sometimes they felt very short. Other than that I liked everything about the course.

In order to help me learn Spanish, I used the suggestions of my teacher (Sra. Forte) in order to get more practice and a better understanding of the language. In order to improve my Spanish in the future I plan to study the words more so I don’t have to use the vocabulary sheets as much. I also plan to meet someone whose native language is Spanish, by doing this I might get a better understanding of the language as well as the culture. 

My teacher helped me understand the difference between preterite and imperfect, estar and ser, and much more. When I got introduced to the preterite and imperfect tenses I was very confused about when I am supposed to use each one, my teacher helped me by answering my questions, providing tips, games, slideshows, and websites to help. I can’t think of anything my teacher didn’t help me with, she always responded in a timely matter and graded within 4 days. 

I found everything that I learned in this course interesting. Specifically I found the food interesting, many people think spicy when they hear “Spanish food” turns out, that isn’t true, Spanish food is not spicy, Mexican food is. Food in Spain is full of flavor and color, popular meals includes empanadas, paella, and tapas. I also found the schools in Spain interesting, most schools require uniforms. Schools also let their students go home for lunch. The schools are almost opposite the schools in the United States, here, not many schools have uniforms and students under 16 can’t leave the school for lunch. 

Next semester, I am taking Spanish III, I hope that  will learn more about things people do on a daily basis (cook, clean, go to school, etc), I also hope I will learn about another country. So far, I have learned about Spain and Costa Rica, I hope in Spanish III I will learn about Mexico, Colombia, or Argentina. 

I have noticed many differences between Spanish and English. For starters, in Spanish people say “ I have___ years” rather than “ I am ___”. Another major difference is how we say our names, in Spain people say “I call myself____” in English we say “ My name is___”. The biggest difference I have noticed while learning and advancing in both English and Spanish is how verbs are conjugated. In Spanish, verbs are conjugated to the time and the person while in English verbs are just conjugated to the time ( present, past, future, progressive). For example: I ate fruit, ate will stay the same no matter who ate dinner, in Spanish we would say comé fruta, depending on who ate the fruit we would change the verb. Another big difference is the imperfect tense, this is used with habitual actions, we don’t have verbs like this in English. Overall, there are many differences between English and Spanish but both languages are very useful and fun to learn. 

Thanks to Spanish II I am able to express how I get myself ready (reflexive verbs), what I did on a daily basis (imperfect tense), what I did for a party (preterite tense), what I ate, what I bought when I went shopping, what I learned in school, how my teachers are/were, what I was like as a kid, and much more. This course has been so helpful and I’m sure I will put what I’ve learned to good use.
