I think Johanna is a girl that turns to a deer because it says she started to run faster and more graceful, that her hair molded to her head so it was turning into fur, and the doctor saw a deer but there was none so she was shot because she was a deer. Another reason is that i think that the doctor is a warlock and he enchanted the forest so that if anyone goes out in the forest at night they get turned into an animal for him to eat.

I Think Johanna Was A Girl That Turned Into A Deer Because In The Beginning It Said She Spooned Acorn Gruel Which A Deer Wouldn't Be Able To Do And She Was Wearing Shoes Which A Deer Also Couldn't Do. It Also Said She "Pawed" The Snow And In The End She Couldn't Speak Or See A Deer Behind Her When She Turned Around.

I think that Johanna was all ways a deer because the story could have been in a POV of a deer, They were squatting on the amount of land of a village, When she had went to the forest she could have discovered new scenes, the "doc" called them "strong as BEAST" and never gave them a tonic because the doc wanted meat with no preservatives, a human would know that the moon wasn't an eye, Deere can pretty much get hypnotized from light, this is why Johanna is a deer

I think Johanna turned in to a deer because of the forest , she also felt unnatural feelings . Johanna said she felt unnaturally light while running. She felt a longer stride the deeper she went in to the forest. When she met the doctor she could not speak at all. She also can't be a human after the going in to the forest because she steppes in to the light puddle. This is also a book so anything can happen , just like a were-deer. I have read a lot of books and some characters get powers and this is how it starts. The usual werewolf starting is that the they get hit by moon light and start feeling different after that. That is why I think Johanna turned in to a deer.

I think that Johanna was a girl and turned into a deer when she went through the woods. In the text it said in the beginning that she was wearing magasins, I doubt a deer would wear shoes. Also, in the text it said she lived in a house.. When she went through the woods she turned into a deer though. I know that in reality for fiction stories authors sometimes do that, like kinda a magestic plot twist. :)
