Arctic Tundra Parameters

Chosen Environment: Arctic tundra (freezing cold, harsh winds, limited vegetation, and long dark winters)

Chosen Systems:

- Circulatory system

- Integumentary system (skin and hair)

Reasoning:

I chose the Arctic tundra since it is very cold, has little daylight, and food sources are very minimal, and this makes it difficult to regulate the body temperature and survive. The circulatory system is necessary to maintain core temperature and the delivery of oxygen in the freezing conditions, whereas the integumentary system is of great importance in insulation and protection in the elemental surroundings (Cleveland Clinic, 2022). All these systems work together to define the ability of an organism to retain heat and survive in this frozen biome.

Using generative AI helped me design the Frosthide Thrumak by fusing imagination with biological science. With the aid of the tool, I was able to visualize how real adaptations, like countercurrent heat exchange and layering of fur, help an organism survive in the Arctic tundra ecosystem. I learned, in the process, how circulatory and integumentary systems function together to insulate body heat and maintain life in blizzards, thus enabling the animal's form to be both imaginative and scientifically feasible.
