in 1882, a major zionist settlement Rishon Le Zion is established in Palestine. 

in 1885, the term "zionist" is first used. 

in 1896, Theodore Herzl Publishes "Der Judenstaat" which called for the creation of a Jewish state. 

in 1897, in Switzerland, a Zionist Congress was held. Then, the first Zionist organization was created. 

in 1907, Zionist leader visits Palestine for the first time.
 
in 1908, A newspaper called Al-Karmel Newspaper is published, which openly opposes Zionist colonization.

in 1909, Tel Aviv was created.

Do you know anything about how medicine was in this time period for your area? We would love to know any other information that you could find, because we could barely find anything in our research. B'nai B'rith-Sha'ar Zion Hospital- This hospital opened in 1880, and was the only source of medical assistance in the city at the time. It was a 16 bed Christian Mission Hospital that was shut down in the summer months. The few foreign doctors charged high fees that were beyond the means of the Jewish community.

There was no "official" medicine in Israel until the Hebrew Medicinal Society for Jaffa and the Jaffa district was founded in 1912, which is after the American Realism and Naturalism period (1865-1910). This organization was not officially incorporated until the 1950's.

What we found was that there were no Jews who lived in the Port City of Jaffa from 1871-1872. What we found was the majority of households were Muslim, with 2,240 households being Muslim, and each household having on average 5 people. The total population was roughly 15,000 people at the time. Around the beginning of the 20th century the population became 40,000. Jews later would populate one third of Jaffa, with 100,000 inhabitants being there in 1947. Most writers who wrote about Israel were either born somewhere else like Germany or were Isreal but lived in America. These are the few authors that wrote and published during the timeline of 1850 to the 1900s. "Altnuland" was written by Theodor Heart in 1902. The novel genre type is utopian which depicts the future. The novel is about the Jewish state as a socialist utopia. He also translated into Hebrew by "Tel Aviv".  Another author is David Tidhan who wrote Balash" which detective story series. His pen name was Shalem Aleceim and wrote a story inspired by "Fiddler on the Roof". Yaakou Fichman wrote "Language Pangs" in 1905 in Moldova.
